Close to Campalto, Mestre and Tessera, Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) stands just 13 km / 8 miles north of central Venice, Italy, across the water. Marco Polo Airport is amongst the most significant in the whole of northern Italy and is currently enjoying a major period of expansion, a project known as the 'Venice Gateway'.

A new runway and terminal have just been constructed and further plans include a major conference centre for up to 2,000 delegates, numerous shop complexes, a hotel with almost 400 guest rooms, and also many surrounding businesses and offices, all of which will be based around a scenic lagoon. Located alongside Marco Polo Airport, the centrepiece of the Venice Gateway will be the water transport terminal, which will feature an eye-catching canopy and stylish architecture.


Schedule ATVO bus services run to the nearby Venice Santa Lucia train station, while buses also travel around the centre of Venice and areas such as the Cannaregio, Castello, Piazzale Roma and San Polo. Motorboats and water taxis (motoscafo) are also a popular and extremely enjoyable way to reach the city and operated by Alilaguna.
